Subrosa Union is a dub-style band that started in EL Paso, TX (hometown to many MIMM peeps) about a decade ago. They rock in the styles of reggae, rock, latin, and dub, and funk- and have been touring extensively the past few years, including some time in the middle east. I remember seeing them play at the MTV Caffeine Tour in 2001. The band is comprised of a trio- Mike Anaya (guitar and vocals), Chris Paulos (bass and MC), and Paul Valenzuela (drums). They have their latest album out called "Looking Forward," along with many other hits like Caramelo. They are curently based out of good ol' Austin, Texas and have a show coming up Friday, Feb 20th, 2009 at the Flamingo Cantina in Atx. Check 'em out subrosaunion.com!
snag these free tracks while they are still up- DJ BC and others have collaborated to bring this fresh revival to Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. there's two videos up there, one being some underground dance remix of Suffragette City (i dug the track, the visuals were somewhere between psychedelic, erotica, and hilarious). Others are more like mixes of two or three songs (dare i say mash-up) - some work and others may not, but people in general should like something off here. comes with a cool printable sleeve and nice art. http://www.ziggyremixed.com
